Gum Treatments
Inflammation begins in the gums due to various irritations (poor oral care, improper cleaning, poorly made dentures, various systemic diseases, bad habits). If this inflammation is not treated, the bone under the gum may melt or the gum may stretch. As a result of this osteoporosis and inflammation, the tooth’s connection to the bone weakens, resulting in tooth loss.
In such cases, the gum is surgically opened, cleaned and closed. If there is bone loss, bone powder, and gum recession, connective tissue and gum graft are placed and the lost tissue tries to heal.
However, the most basic rule of gum and general oral health is that a person personally takes good oral care. The fundamental success of all treatments depends on regular and good personal care of the area where the treatment is performed. Otherwise, these diseases will recur.
The most basic way to prevent gum recession is to provide complete and regular dental care. Brush and floss your teeth every day and visit your dentist at least twice a year or as recommended. If you have gingivitis, your dentist may want to see you more often.
There are other ways to prevent gingivitis:
If you use cigarettes or any other tobacco product, quit immediately.
Eat a balanced and healthy diet.
Carefully monitor the changes occurring in the mouth and do not neglect them.
By taking good care of your teeth, you can have a healthy smile forever.
